Finally someone invented a compact florescent that looks great!  The PLUMEN 001 is the world’s first designer low energy light bulb. The Plumen has a sculptural look that reminds me a bit of those cool, old-fashioned exposed filament bulbs.

The PLUMEN 001 works like any other high quality low energy bulb – saving you 80% on your energy bills and lasting 8 times longer than a standard incandescent bulb. It screws into any standard bulb fitting, gives off a warm white light and will work either shaded or even better, completely naked.

Be patient…it’s not yet available in the US. Plumen’s site says they’ll be launching a 110V version in April 2011.

These adorable necklaces by Figs & Ginger are inspired by the forest.

They’re made from at least 50% recycled sterling silver (although they try to use 100% recycled whenever possible). Each necklace has a blackened patina, which means no polishing is required.

Outdoor lighting can be a bit of a pain. Who wants to run electrical lines? Plus, I’m always changing my mind about how I want things to be arranged.

These solar string lights are my saving grace! The glass globes are darling. The fact that they are solar means that they’re energy-saving so I can enjoy them all year long. The best part is that the solar panel can be placed up to 15 feet from the lights, so you can feel free to hang them under a patio cover, in a tree or just about anywhere you want a little sparkle.

Each string contains six lights with high-powered LED bulbs. The light string is 22 feet long.

Apparently Martha Stewart thinks they’re pretty great too because they were featured in the March issue of Martha Stewart Living.

Spencer Peterman is a master craftsman. He creates these incredible salad bowls in his workshop in Massachusetts. First, he goes on the lookout for fallen trees rotting in the woods. His favorite are those trees that are covered by moss and dirt. In those trees, is wood disfigured by the beginnings of decomposition. When he turns that wood on a lathe, the result is a strikingly unique bowl.

Each bowl is kiln dried to 6% moisture to stabilize the wood and prevent future checking and cracking. They have a food-safe oil finish to bring out the beauty of the wood.
